Dominion Road Dominating CAA Worst Roads Campaign

THOROLD, ON (April 7, 2015) With two weeks to go in CAA's Worst Roads Campaign, Niagara's road users have put Dominion Road in Fort Erie in the region's top spot and eighth in Ontario. Last year, the thoroughfare was voted the second worst road in all of the Niagara Region. The campaign began on March 23 with voters visiting www.CAAWorstRoads.com to submit their choice for the worst road in Niagara.

Stanley Avenue in Niagara Falls was named Niagara's worst road in 2014, but focus has now shifted to Dominion Road. "With a new front runner for this year's Worst Roads Campaign in Niagara, it is evident that new roads are becoming a priority to residents," said Rick Mauro, CAA Niagara's vice president of marketing and public relations. "The addition of new streets, including Queenston Street in St. Catharines to our current top 10 worst roads list, indicates the new concerns people have with the conditions of Niagara's roads."

The current top five Worst Roads in Niagara are:

Dominion Road, Fort Erie
Queenston Street, St. Catharines
Lakeshore Road, Niagara-on-the-Lake
Stanley Avenue, Niagara Falls
Drummond Road, Niagara Falls

CAA Niagara's campaign runs until April 17. Niagara's road users are encouraged to vote for their "worst road" at www.CAAWorstRoads.com. Following the campaign, CAA will share its top 10 Worst Roads list with provincial and local government officials.

CAA Niagara is a not-for-profit auto club that also offers insurance and travel. Founded in 1911 as the St. Catharines Automobile Club with just 16 members, CAA Niagara has grown to more than 119,000 members with five Niagara locations.
